Beginner Level

Course Duration: 17 Minutes | Difficulty Level: 1

Arpeggios are an important area of study for any musician, including bass players. But while you might have heard the term, you might be unsure what it means. An arpeggio is essentially a chord, played one note at a time. These arpeggio notes – also known as chord tones – are essential building blocks when it comes to creating your own basslines.

This course will introduce you to three basic arpeggio types – major, minor and diminished. You’ll learn to play these arpeggios on the bass, and you’ll begin learning to recognise their sound. You’ll also learn how to derive arpeggios from the major scale, which is an important step in learning harmony on the bass guitar.
